After new team president Tim Ruskell turned over nearly half the '04 roster in less than 11 months, Seattle set a franchise record with 13 wins, won a second consecutive MFC West title, ended a 21-year drought without a playoff victory, advanced to its first-ever
Super Bowl and tied a team record
with seven players earning Pro Bowl honors.
But recent history suggests the Seahawks could have a very tough I road in store for them in '06, with the 2000 Titans being the only Super Bowl runner-up in the past seven seasons to manage even a
500 record in their hangover year. |
Seahawks NFL 2006 Draft: |
| After losing Andre Dyson in free agency, the Seahawks added Kelly Jennings to be the team's nickel back. A four-year starter at the University _ of Miami, he will need to add strength to JJ be more of a factor coming up in run sup-~~ port. Darryl Tapp lacks size but excelled as a pass rusher at Virginia Tech. Rob Sims, who played left tackle at Ohio State, should be a top backup at tackle and guard. David Kirtman will be groomed to replace fullback Mack Strong. Ryan Plackemeier was the draft's best kicker, according to some experts, and should make the final roster. Ben Obomanu did little to excite at Auburn, but had enough size, speed and athletic ability to take a chance on late in the draft. It was a good draft for the Seahawks, who addressed their needs with quality players up and down. |
